On Friday night, Fabricio Andrade and John Lineker stepped under the main event spotlight at the iconic Lumpinee Boxing Stadium in Thailand for a ONE bantamweight world championship rematch. The heavy-hitting Brazilians delivered another dazzling display of fireworks that kept fans in Bangkok and those watching around the world on the edge of their seats.
John Lineker immediately came out firing on all cylinders looking for an early knockout of Fabricio Andrade. ‘Wonder Boy’ managed to avoid any serious danger as Andrade continued his pursuit. Initially, Andrade struggled to find his range, but with roughly two minutes to go in the first round, Andrade managed to uncork a massive right hand that connected. Lineker, who was clearly wobbled, went into survival mode as Andrade smelled blood in the water early.
Andrade swarmed in looking to end things in the first, but John Lineker was saved by the bell.
Undeterred, John Lineker once again came out and put on immediate pressure, looking to land one of his signature looping hooks, though ‘Hands of Stone’ began struggling to find his target as Andrade put his reach to good use by establishing his jab. The second and third rounds were fairly competitive, but things quickly took a turn in the fourth.
With just over a minute to go in the fourth round, Andrade began to unload on John Lineker, busting open his opponent and causing ‘Hands of Stone’ to gush blood. Again smelling blood in the water, Andrade was in hot pursuit, but Lineker was once again saved by the bell.
When it came time for the fighters to come out for the fifth round, John Lineker remained on his stool. ONE commentator Mitch Chilson confirmed that Lineker’s corner had thrown in the towel after a cut prevented Lineker from being able to see. Referee Herb Dean called a stop to the bout, declaring Fabricio Andrade the winner.
Official Result: Fabricio Andrade def. John Lineker via TKO (retirement) at 5:00 of Round 4 to capture the ONE Bantamweight World Championship
